Has anyone put a 3:73 ring and pinion in thier automatic? I am wanting to change out the 3:31 thats in my car. I was told the 3:73 would not work well with the auto and I should go with the 3:55. Any help????????

That is the setup I was thinking about. I talked to the guys over at MRT and they said it is a great setup with autos. They were telling me it will make the car feel 500 lbs lighter. I dont know from experience but so far I have only heard good things.

I have 3,73s as well as rygen has them. I like them but all the places i asked actually reccomend 4.10s for autos.

Petepete, Did the 3:73 make a big differance in your takeoff? I think these 3:31 kills the bottom end.

anything is better then stock, mpsautosalvage.com has used 3.73 gears out of explorers for $50, IMO that cant be beat and there is nothing wrong with used gears, the 4.0 being SOHC however, does like to rev so it would benifit a little bit more from 4.10s if that extra 1 mpg on the highway is worth it to you

you also need a motive bering kit and i would strongly recomend getting some kind of limited slip unit put in while the rear end is apart

you will need a tuner to correct the speedo if you dont have one, justin at vmptuing.com is probably the best V6 tuner in the world

I had 3.73 in my auto and then changed to 4.10s, If you are looking to get the most out of yoor cr go with 4.10s ....if your not that big on racing it stick with the 3.73s . Either will help on take off's and responce.

I have 3:73's and their great, but I will probally switch to 4:10's. Right now with the 3:73's I get 21 mpg. The 3:73 help a lot with a t-loc, I wouldn't bother if you don't get a t-loc at the same time.

I plan on doing the T-Lock at the same time. I think the 4:10 may be a little low since i do not drag race the car, only drive it. I have Today ordered NOS from ZEX and a tune from VMPTUNING. Already have a MMR CAI and Dual exhaust.

We run nitrous on the street all the time down here.....i know i plan to jejeje. As far as i know cops dont ask you to pop the hood or the trunk when they stop you ...so its going to be pretty hard to tell.
