Most of my friend told me 'The only real Mustang is the V8' version. They were and are still wrong! Iam in my 50's and remembering all the Mustangs Isaw while growing up in the sixties and seventies, the V6 Pony Package is the Real Deal. The extra speed and gauges is not worth the extra money for cost and insurance.I too get many comments on howgood it looks.
Pony is the way to go!

Besides all the reasons everyone has listed already, I also had the option of the GT but decided it would be a lot more fun making my V6, MY v6 such as modding it out and other things that I wouldn't be able to do w/ the GT insurance and overall MSRP. I get to have a lot more fun in doing actual things to my V6 that I could only dream of doing w/ the GT. I also think, maybe a stretch, but we, the V6 guys, have a better appreciation for what the classic mustang is and its true essence.

There is a trunk release somewhere on the left driver seat. I was getting in one day with my arm down the seat sideand my hand or coat caught something and opened the trunk. I heard the sound and saw the warning on the message center. Unless I hit the button on the key fob at the same time. I don't know, I looked after that and couldn't find anything.

I have a 2006 Pony Package. Here are some more good points to ponder. The V6 is nearly 150lbs. lighter then the V8 and the weight distribution is better. With the GT suspension added by the Pony Package this car will out handle a GT any day. Another good point made by someone is moding is a lot of fun. My Pony has tons of mods including an X-Charger supercharger and I am still not into it for as much money as my friends GT and my car outperforms his hands down. I stuck with a single exhaust. I think V6s with duals look like GT wanabees. Just my opinion. As for insurance, I called my agent and the cost of insurance increase for a GT would be $20 a year so that is a none issue for me.

Interesting on the insurancerate. Although I have Allstate, I used the http://progressivedirect.comweb site to get some quotes before committing the Pony to Allstate for pleasure only driving. Good thing too, because Allstate initially wanted $850 every 6 months for the V6 Manual. NO WAY I SAID, as Progressive is $320 every 6 month for 250/500/100 coverage. Anyway, I've been with the same agent for 29 years. Had him pull a credit check on me and the wife. We both score in the 810 range. Seems like Allstate still had some info whenI was 18 in the system. Long story short, our new rate for the V6 Pony Package is $226 every six months plus it's 1/3 share of the 250/500 Uninsured Motorist Bodily Injury that is $135. So we are looking at around $265 every 6 months for the Mustang drive out.

Allstate doesn't have online changes for current policy holders, but I did revisit Progressive to see what a V8 GT would be with my same quote (driver) information. It went from $320 every 6 months to $433 every6 months.[/align]

I've had my V6 Stampede Edition Mustang for 6 months and not a day of regret buying this pony over the V8. I have a very limited editon FORD Mustang for TX and OK. Good to hear from others excited about their V6 ponies.

are you serious? this i didn't know. so does this mean that all the big brother GT's out thereare prancing around because they can get up to 60 mph 2 seconds faster than us V6'ers? not to mention they get worse gas mileage & higher insurance rates, etc. i'm not bothered by arrogant GT drivers cause there will always be a bigger fish.
