Snow!!!
Here's kind of a weird question. I have an 06 v6 5spd and was wondering how much snow you guys think I can get through. I have the type of job that I can't just not go in. Thanks.
im guessing ur in the path of this storm hitting the east coast? i dont think my car will be moving till thursday, im maryland it looks like alot of ice headed our way, and as long as u can ride on top of the snow, u should be ok with all season tires and taking it easy, i made it in to work 20 miles last week in 4 inches without a problem at all
You will be totally at the mercy of your tires. I have a 2006 V6 5sp, 17" Bullit's with 235/55 Pirelli tires. First sign of snow and I was ALL over the place even with feather light throttle.
Short version... Got a set of 215/65 Blizzaks on 16" steel rims and can now get through up to several inches, and have traction on ice and hard packed snow. Sort of like the old days when everything was rear wheel drive. Snows in the winter, sport tires in the summer.
Go easy, take your time, and allow lots of extra room for stopping.

Yep, I second that. Snow tires in the winter etc. etc.
I converted my 07 pony to posi-traction recently andalthough it does better, those perelli's aren't worth spit in the snow. Yeah I can get around but I don't want to have to drive like grammy and risk getting stuck either. I am sure that in more than an inch of snow I'd stand a good chance of getting stuck and spinnin my wheels. Even with TCS active it's a coin toss.
That's why I have a 4x4 anyway. ;-) My baby stays in the garage where she belongs when it snows. She loves me for it too ;-).

I have the stock 16's on right now. Wish I had snow tires. Just saw the updated news. They extended the winter storm warning from midnight tues to midnight weds. 12-15 inches. At work I drive a crown vic which I'm sure won't do much better.Won't be getting anywhere quick.

I have driven my stang through two winters in NJ and drove through every snowstorm we had, and I can tell you it was the scariest time of my life lol I had studded tires on the rear and snows in the front and 250lbs of cat litter in the back. i drove in a lower gear and never hit the gas hard. i actually made it up a hill i thought i never would have by staying in the tracks. all in all it taught me a good lesson, get a car with AWD for the winter lol this year she will not be sledding in the snow, she is grounded HAHA..good luck man
Not much... to answer your question....When it starts snowing and I know I don't have school...I will "slide" the stang down the street to my uncles garage and drive a jeep home...end of problem.
