260Hp V6 Taurus in 2008?

RE: 260Hp V6 Taurus in 2008?
MORE POWER, LONGER WARRANTIES. why is it so hard for ford to realize that this is one of the fundamental causes for their problems. people are buying import because they have better warranties and they know how to advertise power. GM is realizing that and thats why they extended their warranties. standard 3 year warranty is old school. come on FORD, get your s**t straight. i hope the company pulls through and starts making things happen. i really want something good to look forward to.

Ford won't beef up the V6 again till the beef up the GT. The Mustang performance car is the GT. The V6 is just a car for someone who can't afford\doesn't want the power of a GT, but rather the style of a Mustang. I assume that the decision to put that much pep in the Taurus will also have the side effect of V6 owners bumping up to GT's as it would be pretty embarasing to lose to a Taurus, a fact that I'm sure Ford planned.

Many of us who opted for the V6 did so for other reasons too. None the less there are plenty of us who have or will have upped the performance of our 4.0's to the degree that we won't sweat GT's and certainly not the Taurus. I like the feel and look of my 4.0 Pony package better than I do the GT anyway. At least one of so far has upped the performance so much that a lot ofGT'swon't even think abouttrying to compete ;-). If they do, they'll get spanked so bad they'll wish they baught a 4.0 pony package!
Just my 2 cents.
By the way, I saw a sign advertising lifetime bumper to bumper warranties on new Ford's the other day while I was at the dealer taking care of other business. They're catchin on!

Yeah but you gotta realize that there are just as many people who buy the cars and keep em bone stock, as there are who mod em. I'm sure thats who ford has in mind.

Basically rygens right. Threre gunna put a new motor and bodystyle out when the camaro & challengers show up. Makes more sence. Hopefully I can still keep up with the stock V6 camaros and challengers blown. If not we got a problem! lol

Don't forget torque.... the 4.0 has great low end torque. There are lots of higher HP engines with torque that does not peak till 3800 RPM. Torque is what you feel... you RARELY get your engine near max HP, unless you run up to near redline.

Right. If one checks he spec's on the 3.5 against the 4.0, what you said should prove out I believe.
Still higher band HP is above the 4.0 and I bet it gets up there real quick too! ;-)
Stock for stock if you ran a 4.0 and 3.5 automatic pony next to each other on the track, the 4.0 may very well take the 3.5 off the line but it's bye bye 4.0 after that!
