260Hp V6 Taurus in 2008?
I went and checked out Fords wedsite. And they are saying in the fall of 07 the new 2008 Taurus will be coming out. It states it wll have a 260hp V6 engine. Any one know any more info about this.
Will Ford improve the 210hp 4.0 for our cars.
Heres the link.

I do believe they also put it in their edge. From what I understand it's yet another beefed up duratec. The old taurus had a 3.0L duratec pushing 200hp, they're good engines. They also put the 2.5L ~170hp in the contours.
I doubt they'll improve the 4.0L any. It's SOHC for a reason, they don't want to give it too much power so people will buy the GT. The duratec's are DOHC.

Once the camaro comes out, and the challenger, I think we will see a power bump on the V6 and GT. So we may see a DOHC V6 in the next generation stang. I have a source at Ford that says the 3.5 is going in the new 6 banger, but with all of Fords financial issues, I'm still on sceptical.

I love my 4.0 stang but I feel pretty strongly that since Ford has a couple econoboxes with more HP than our stangs already and they'll be slapping in a 3.5 in the new Taurus 'butt ugly friggin car IMO ' they'd better get on the friggin stick and put some more pony's under the hood quick! Especially since the new camaro and challenger are just around the corner! I don't like the idea of gettin spanked by a friggin V6 Taurus! Geesh, I'm just about being forced to throw in another 4G's for an xc just so I don't have to worry about it ;-). I'm gonna be watchin out for the next group buy now for sure!

if any of you guys are that concerned that we as base model mustang owners (let's face it, the 6 is the base engine) will be getting spanked by a sedan with a v6, you can always A) get a blower, turbo, or nitrous B) do an engine swap for a bigger/better v6 or a v8 or finally C) get your own motor hot-rodded then put a blower on it.
there's a bunch of engine builders out there besides super six that can make the 4.0 a screamer. some of them are mentioned from time to time in magazines by what they do with the old t-bird v6.
now if you really want to make someone's head pop, go get a an old four-banger from a fox-body car, slap a turbo on it, crank the psi up to about 20-29 and put it in your car. veritable track demon.

The current Ford 500 is being rebranded as the new Taurus. It will be using the same engine as the new Edge. One of the reasons the 500's arent selling is that everyone thinks they are underpowered with the current V6.
I doubt anyone has to worry about getting spanked by a sedan as it is a MUCH heavier car than our mustangs.

Well, that's good news. I had a 93 SHO for a couple years. Nice car. Then they went and altered it into a butt ugly egg beater AMC Pacer lookin piece of **** on wheels!
Glad they're changing it. Smart move IMO.
Your right, the sedan would be heavier but the 500 is not that much heavier I would think.
Primarily, my feeling is since they have 265HP stock, the Mustang should at least be 265HP! After all it is a performance car. I would think the GT 4.6 could have been pushed up to 350HP easily to boot!
Then Ford wouldn't have had to worry about losing customers in any case.
Just my 2 cents.
