Default exhaust screw-up

Yes, I listened to an exhaust man that sent me down the wrong road. I have a 2006 vert with a 5 spd. I have done a number of mods with a wife who is fairly understanding of my insanity. Prior to reading any forums, I went and asked this exhaust man to put on dual exhausts. He has been in the business for many years and most people that I know go to him because he is very good at what he does. He went ahead and put on straight pipes back from the converters. It looks great, runs great and sounds fantastic but after reading the forums I am afraid I will be hurting something since I did not go with x or H pipes. I live in the country and I am usually in 5th gear. I know how to do mileage and I realize this sounds crazy but I average 25 in the country and 29 highway (Myrtle Beach). If I keep these pipes will I be hurting anything. I really don't care about horsepower or racing, (I'm too old). Help!

I thought the same thing with only 3 cylinders per exhaust but trust me it sounds NICE. I have had many neighbors comment on this car. By the way, I am not able to take the car back to the exhaust man because he unfortunately passed away of a heart attach three weeks after he did my exhaust.(sad) I also talked with my ford dealer (not sure they comprehend) but they feel it will not hurt the engine at all.

You can always add a crossover pipe to have anH-pipe.

Don't worry about it.
Nothing wrong with straight pipes.
If you like it, that's all that matters.
You are doing NO harm to anything.

well besidesthe straight pipessounding like 3 cylinders running at the same time, does it make you loose power or would it be the same as an x or will there be a loss in power becuase of the lack of backpressure?

There has been no loss of power with the straight pipes.

If you like the way it sounds, enjoy it, your not hurting a thing.Seperate dual exhausts have been around forever! And if you want an H-pipe its very easy to do.
