Default help, Burning smell coming from the rear.

I have an 06 V6 Stang with 22k miles on it,after a ride I have beennoticing a distinct smell comeing from around the rearof the car. I know its not Oil Iknow what the smell of burning oil smells like,I dont know what would make the smell. Anyone on herehave anyideas or similar thing happening to them?

do you have duals?

i know some have had problems with a harness getting burned up buy a dual exhaust setup.

I havent changed anything on the car, I guess its the premuim with pony pakage and leather interior =) really nice hmmmmmm ohh ohh and the color changing dash....

you sure you didnt ride over a plastic bag or something? Because thats what I did and it melted to my Y Pipe. I can still smell it when I get to high speeds and this happened weeks ago. check underneath and see if you see a melted bag.

Usually smells bad for about 4-6 weeks sometimes longer depending on what happened. I had it happen twice now >_<

rear brakes frozen? thats why mine smelt like that lol

I heard of this one a while back, it was a harness on the driver side near the gas tank I beleive ? Anyone can confirm this or lead us to the thread talking about this potential issue ?

check the back brake to make sure it isn't hot. when the e-break freezes, the back driver side brake smells burnt. wet your finger good before you touch it though.

Mine too. Apparently there is a TSB out for the rubber sheath that goes around the e-brake cable. It's made of inferior grade rubber and degrades very quickly, letting water in and (in the cold) freezing the brake closed. And of course the dealership was not at all helpful about this...
