Default removing cats...?

well...Ive grown tired of my exhaust and would like it to be louder...I have dual exhaust with an H-pipe and GT takeoffs.

What can I do for a louder growl?

Has anyone removed the cats and if so how does it sound and are their any negatives in doing this other than not passing smog?

THNX

No cats... big resonator... and a GT take-off... sound ok until about 3000 RPM... then it get's kind of "buzzy"... Not sure what a dual take-off setup would sound like... I'm guessing it will make your car louder... but probably not in a good way...

So here's what my setup sounds like... the first 3 ramps where with the windows down.. the last ramp was with windows up...

Here's the resonator:

Now... if you remove the cats you'll need MIL's or a custom tune that has the rear O2 sensors turned off or you'll end up with a check engine light...

Personally if you are just looking for a deeper/louder sound, i would not remove the cats...

hmm.. it doesn't sound bad at allfrom the sound clip. Sounds real good actually.I can hear what your talking about though, must be more annoying in person. Gotta remember too that was with the resinator.

How much of it do you think is the muffler?

Slap some MRTs on there...it will be loud. If you don't want to go that far then some Flowmaster ATs sound good.

Stay away from removing the cats, you will get a buzz like a honda with a sewer pipe. I took mine off even after hearing scrmings car, but I took them off for weight savings. If you take them off and then put on resonator(s), you loose the weight savings. I'm just hoping it is worth it at the track. I now have MAC long tubes, off road pipes, MAC prochamber and dual JBA's. I like the sound except for between 2500 to 3000, thats where mine buzzes. I also have a custom tune that shuts off my rear o2 sensors, so I don't have a mil adaptor and did not need to use 02 wiring extenders for the front 02 sensors.

Have you tried bolt on some of the brown rubber dampners? I know it's putting weight back on... but... you could always take them off at the track... LOL! I've switched to the single GT takeoff... the buzz is still there... but at least now I don't have to hide my head in shame!!! LOL!
