Default Throttle Body Shortage

I was just wondering why 4.0 TB is out of stock in most popular dealers. I thought there's no HP gain on the TB but who's buying all of them? I need one!

cant help ya...although i do hearthere are no gains from it so i was wondering why put one on ...if its for show looks then ok....but how does it last compared to stock...my pony is a daily driver and i show it as well....but if the tb has no gains what is the point in upgrading ...if upgrading is even a relavent term...and yes there is a shortage of 4.0 items....according to one of my mustang mags....of the last years mustang sales around 25 to 30% were gts ...so that theoretically means that the other 70% are 4.0 maybe this will help to quell your qaundry....its logical....good luck finding a tb and let us know what you think of the one you get when you do...how does it look, work etc.... can it handle the rigors of daily use....

I believe the aftermarket ones breaths more air than the stock. Since I've opened my CAI with more air using C&L with Xcal2 tune from AA, installed TB helix spacer, installed my JBA shorties, true dual exhaust and Cobalt ignition wires.

I think it's just right also to replace your stock TB with another that allows more air to accommodate the air that comes in from the C&L CAI. That's just my .02 cents from my basic mechanical knowledge.

There were a lot of problems with them. They were difficult to set up right and were touchy. A lot of computer code errors were generated and the engine went into limp mode if they weren't adjusted just right so I suspect most of the manufacturers took them off the market rather than deals with all the complaints and returns.
