scmring is an auto, so the shock isnt there like a manual car. flapjack is a manual... we will see how long it holds
I think that is the key sentence right there. Fazm is a manual, the launches are brutal on the rear, plus he can drive it like he stole it. Talking w/ PowerHouse, they seemed pretty confident that the 7.5/tlok/3.73's setup for me being an automatic would be ok for now until I take the car to the next level. If I had a manual, I would be switching over asap.

ya, pretty much how it goes.

if ur a manual, and ur gonna drive like me lol, you get the 8.8

if ur an auto, with the stock stall, the 7.5 should be plenty good, unless you are doing a bunch of 100+ shots of nitrous like scrming lol

The reason Ford upgraded the GT to an 8.8 diff in 1986 was because of diff failure with a 285 ft/lb
V-8 engine. The 7.5 is a weak link and anyone with serious performance aspirations wouldn't spend a dime on upgrading one. btw the S197 GT's 8.8" already has 31 spline axles and the LSD TSB was due to improper friction modifiers added(or not)to the diff lube at the assembly plant from my understanding. If you're super serious then the big daddy 9" Ford diff is the only real solution.

Anyone know if the GT automatic drive shaft is compatible with the V6 automatic and 7.5 rear end?
Is the GT driveshaft balanced better / tougherthan the V6 driveshaft?
Thanks ahead of time!

I do not believe that a GT driveshaft is interchangeable with the V6. When folks convert to the 8.8", they have to change the flange rather than simply install a GT driveshaft. I remember hearing that the driveshafts are a different length. Anybody else wanna confirm or disprove?

kpaul I recomend a search, this has been covered a lot. You should also look at gears if you are adding a Tlock. ~$500-$700 parts and labor
