Default Posi-Traction Questions...

Hey all...i am interested in the t-lok but want to find out more info about the setup from u guys that already have it. I've seen what is offered through RPMOUTLET.COM but still not sure what i'm going to need. First of all, what are the advantages/gains i can expect from the t-lok? will it show any power/torque difference on the dyno or the street? does it improve race times? do i have to change anything else on my car in order for the t-lok to function properly? how is it installed? any feedback would be great.

I purchased the t-loc and 3:73 gears from RPM Outlet. The T-loc just gives you the posi trac so you can get better traction. I would suggest the gears. The differance in the stock 3:31 and the 3:73 is great. The install to do both the gears and the t-loc will cost you the same as the gears must be removed to instal the t-loc, so I would spend the extra $150.00 for the gears. Now the one thing to remember is if you do the gears you must enter the new gear ratio in your computer to adjust the speed. You will only need a complete instal kit besides the t-loc and gears. i believe the instal kit from them was $100.00. Hope this helps.

does the better traction from the t-lok actually improve quickness/acceleration/time compared to stock? so far i'm just looking into the t-lok. the gears is something i may look into after this mod.

+100% agree, but I would look else where RPM has had problems in the past. Many places sell them so just do some shopping around.
I got my Gears there and had a nightmare of a time
I went through stang mods for my Tlock
I got the install kit for $75 from American Muscle.

As far as improving quickness it might but not a tremendous amount. I'd go with the gear install at the same time.

You will need to reflash the speedo, gears will be harmless if done right!!! They are not a part to take lightly at all, have someone who does them all the time with a solid rep do them. It is important that they get done the right way. If they aredone right you'll never be able to tell someone changed them until you take off and drive and then man is it fun.....it a great mod and I wish I would have done it sooner.
Take it easy for the 1st 50 milse and change the fluid at 500 to just make sure all the "junk" is out of the pumpkin.

What it does improve is traction.

If you normally spin your wheel when launching, that won't happen anymore.

The T-LOC really makes your pony "dig in" and launch without just sending up smoke signals!

Also really good for wet roads when you'd normally lose traction (like when accelerating into traffic).

Takes a little getting used to because the back end gets real squirreley if you give it too much gas (fishtails).

Yes yes yes and yes, and theymake the car a blast just in day-to-day driving. You lose about 1-2 mpg on the highway, and that's about the only downside...

These cars should've come from the factory with the T-Lok and 3.73s, but then nobody'd buy the GT, lol!

its going to take alot more then 3.73s to hang with a GT, and 4.10s should of been stock for the extra 1 mpg loss
