Explode, not likely, but possible. What tends to happen is the tread comes flying off the tire. I have had this happen twice. Once in a 280z and once in a 3/4 ton pickup. If it the rear tire and you are going in a straight line when it happens, it makes a lot of noise and ****s up your fender. Neither of the tires blew out on me after the tread came off, but that easily have happened. If your front tire goes, there is obviously more danger.

BTW: the tire on the 280 went out at 45 but I was accelerating pretty hard.

I would be more worried about the drive shaft then the tires at 115...

me too, but the original person did not ask about that. I guess if they get to run on the track at115, we'll find out which gives out first.

I know i was being stupid, but my early 06 had only 5K miles on it and on a loney long straight country road i had to see what she would do, so after the speedo said 110 i gently tried some maneuvering ( i am no rookie at high speed driving) the car was sloppy and spongy soft and i realized it was not designed to do that. when the limiter kicked in at 118 (on the speedo) car had lots left even at stock at the time...i let off and dropped back to 65mph. and started planning my suspension and tire mods..........Then I found out about the DS problems and sure enough i have one of the bad ones.. so CHE/ powerhouse here i come.... I havent been over 90 since.....

I still don't get the joke.
To be clear, all I said was that my stock PZero's are rated to 168 MPH. Anyone can verify that if they look it up.
I never said I could go 168. Not even my pony can do that ;-p
Well, maybe with a couple rockets strapped on top while runnin on the salt flatsit could ;]

Our tires can go to 168, but our drive shafts will not. If you want to go at high speeds, make sure you get a once piece alum driveshaft.

I just got my July 05 Mustang up to 128 mph on a bumpy andnarrow county road this weekend. Oncheap yokohama tires even.

My driveshaft was fine, and she actually didnt feel like she was out of control.

and for all you non believers, yes, my car does have cai and is tuned by brenspeed, so naturally i don't havea limiter on.

hot ****, i've only taken the mustang to 110, but damn it took forever to hit 110.

They could. Even though I am a GT, my tires are rated at like 168 mph and they say to air up to max pressure if I intend to do sustained driving over 100mph.
