Default V6 Pony Package, T5 Manual, and burn outs

I'm not sure this was the best subject line, but it should get those with related info on to this thread.

I'm starting to play a little with my V6 Pony Package with T5 manual transmission. I've got less than200 miles on her and am not ready to abuse her yet. Repeat: No abuse yet.

Anyway, I though I would play around with the 0 - 70 start on a not so heavily travel Interstate spur.

I've had 3 other V8 cars in my lifetime, all in the 145 to 220 net HP range. None have had the large 17" wheels and traction bars that the Pony Package has.

When starting from a dead stop and NOT revving the engine, I felt very good acceleration, BUT never felt like the tires were going to break loose. In factI could not make the Pony Package feel the least bit un-controllable going from 0 to 70 on dry pavement where I would possibly want to back off some. I was shifting at around 5000 RPM and was in3rd gear at 70 MPH. I even tried it with the traction control OFF.

The other 3 cars ('70 Mustang 302 2V, '77 Olds Starfire 305, '88 Mustang 5.0) with their 14" or 15" wheels would seems much faster only because they seemed to travel at a speed that you could loose control, butI just don't see how their actual 0 - 60 times could be any better than my new Pony Package.

Any comments[/align]

You might start to feel a loss of traction with a CAI and a good tune! [sm=gears.gif]

believe me....if you step 2 feet away from babying it, you will burnout on start, and chirp into second

turn off your TCS, put it in 1st, rev to over 3K RPM at a dead stop and let go for the clutch and floor it.

the 17" pirellis will hug turns but spin the fast enough and you can smoke through first chirp into 2nd and i've even chirped third....but that will wear out your tires.

damn, ive got a PP and if i give even the SLIGHTEST too much power, they wheels will at least chirp. Even shifting to second, at 4K if i dump the clutch fast, the wheels do a big chirp lol
