Tuning Question
i know we get sick of these questions but mines actually different... i want to cross referance some information.
today i was talking to my friend about buying a K&N filter cause they are like 25% off or something, and he told me just to get the aftermarket intake, tubes and all. In response i told him i dont have the money for a tuner and the intake. He told me that the computer tunes out the A/F ratio by itsself and you can just slap on a new intake and if you let it idle for a few minutes on its own it will self-tune to the new intake.
Now i know the car has a computer and can tune things on its own (hence all the sensors) but is it at all possible that an intake advertised by the company as "needing a tuner" doesn't really need a tuner?
thanks a lot

RE: Tuning Question
An intake that "needs a tuner" needs a tuner. That simple. There are intakes that advertise no need for a tuner.. those don't need one, but may throw codes, especially if they are oiled (which most of them are).
In the long run, in my opinion, you are better off just saving for a tuner and CAI combo. It's that big of a difference.

The procedure your friend mentioned will only result in it learning at idle, once you drive in other areas it will learn there too, but the O2s don't work at WOT.
