Default Got my AVIC-D3 today...

....and had it installed this evening. i'm still smiling! the shaker 500 system sounds much better with the pioneer than with the factory stereo. even though its only been a few hours, i am INCREDIBLY pleased thus far. pics to follow as soon as i can locate a camera.

well i wasn't about to pay 1000 PLUS install from best buy.......so i bought it from compuplus.com for 700. to install the unit alone would have been 99.99 at best buy, but i also purchased the sirius radio module and the ipod cable (109.99 and 29.99 respectively). total for all that i spent 1040, which turned out to be MUCH cheaper than doing it all from best buy. for just the avic, ipod cable, and install, it would be somewhere around $839. hope that helps

yes it does, including greater use of the subwoofers in the doors. it allows more (wattage? amps? frequency? i'm not particularly savvy in electronic lingo) to the speakers, allowing for a MUCH better sound. it sounds so much better than with the factory stereo. a definite bargain for the money. in the future i plan on buying the bluetooth module which will allow for telephone conversations using the car speakers. it is also compatible with a rearview camera.

I would definitely advocate the D3 (or the Z1)
DO NOT go the Z2 route cause there's no bypass available for it

Pesonally, Ive got the Z1 in the Stang and the wife has a brand new D3 in her Focus... the D3 interface for the iPod is FREAKIN AWESOME
just my pennies worth!

Do you know where I can find this bypass? I may be getting this unit later on.
