I want to purchase a GT take off muffler for my 2006 V6. I know I can get two from ebay for around $80. I have two questions.
1) How much would a muffler shop like Midas charge to install it? Should I use Midas?
2) Can I use both mufflers, or do I only want the passenger muffler? I will most likely not be going to dual.

well, you know, if you actually ever look under the hood or body of the car, maybe you could figure out how to do it for FREE[:@]

all you have to do is unbolt it and bolt the replacement in.

get a set for about 100$ (shipped) and just do the work yourself, JEEZ.

The system has clamps and the hangers are in the same place.
It takes about 30 minutes and can be done with the car
on the ground. Does its youselves and saves moooney.
Or take it somewhere and find out what the minimum
charge is for such a simple job.

+1 on the self install it's easy but I can't see a shop charging more than $50.00 fr the install.
No you can't use either you need to use the pass side one, the other won't fit.

I did it in maybe 30 minutes. No problem with clearances or mounting points.

Not surewhy, but the GT muffler only has two hangers, but the V6 muffler has three. That means you'll have two bolts left over.

I jacked up the passenger side rear wheel to give me a little more room to work - cement garage floor, floor jack and a set of axle jacks to keep everything from moving. The only tools I used were a socket set and one wrench.

Not a difficult job at all, and I'm easily intimidated

Yea, I bought a pair on ebay for 40 (local pickup, no shipping) and installed it myself. Its really easy, just takes some time to wiggle into place, just be patient. I didnt even jack up the car, just put it over a curb and laid down underneath it with the wrench.

Take the hangers off the car and bolt them on the new muffler (13mm wrench) before you put muffler back on car. You need 15mm for the pipe.

i don't know much about the install but everyone says its so easyyy. But i do know that 80$ is alot for GT takeoffs even if they are brand new. look i the classified foeums guys sell them extremely cheap maybe 50 shipped if not less.

Be sure your take-offs are for a Auto trans if you
have a V6 with an Auto or get the take-offs from
a GT manual if you have a Manual V6. The GT
mufflers are different for the Auto and Manual trans.
The part #s are also different. Its best to ask what
kind of transmission the GT that the mufflers came
off of had. Warning, they are different.[:@]

The shop that is going to install my duals quoted me $80-100.......but that is taking off the old muffler and pipes, cutting and replacing as well as adding new pipes.
