Default 3.73's or 4.10's

i cant decide between the gears. ive heard the 4.10's will give you better performance but kills your gas when driving on the highway

well it will ruin your highway MPG because it will cause your car to run higher rpm's. But for the exact amount of loss i dont know. My question is what is better for the manual mustang 3.73 or 4.10's.

I think 'ruin' is too strong of a word, the people I've talked to have said its like 1-2mpg at most.

I'd go with the 3.73's (my plan).

i say 3.73's if ur going F/I and 4.10's if ur staying NA. i personally thing tht 4.30's are a lil too steep for a 5 speed. but if its a track car y not ya know.

What are your RPMs going to be at with the two gear sets. Some of us have a mix of highway driving to do.

In addition to considering gear ratio, you need to factor in rear tire diameter. The stock 17" Pirellis are roughly 27" in diameter, but if you are gonna run a shorter 275/40R17 tire like the Mickey Thomspson ET Street drag radial, its dia is 25.7". So that will make your gearing shorter and effectively increase the numeric value of your gear ratio.

Conversely, a taller 28" dia. tire like these...

... will increase your gearing to aratio with a lower numeric value. I like the look of the taller tire, and it's fine cuzI have 4.10's in my 4.0L/5spd coupe.

You also need to consider your driving habits and overall plan for modding your car. If you wanna go forced induction, then 3.73's might be a better choice.
