DTE FLI DATA ERROR.... it's back!!!
welp, the dealership wants to keep my car another day (3 days now) to try to duplicate and troubleshoot the problem. apparently, they contacted the big dogs of ford technicians and want to try another day. not sure if even the higher end technicians are familiar with the problem but if any of them were part of this forum, they would be very aware of this issue. hopefully they figure the problem out (although i doubt it) and i can be assured that it has nothing to do with my tunes or tuner itself. others have said that the tune doesn't cause this, which i hope they're right, but at this point it can be anything. by the way, i informed the dealership that "other" mustang owners (05SDI) have had their fuel sending units replaced but i'm not sure if they are accepting that as a cause (probably think i'm full of sh*t with my possible theory). anyways, i just want to get my stang back with no more damn computer issues![&:]

Do you have an iPod adapter installed by chance?

No! No ipod adapter of any kind (I don't even own an ipod) on either car! NOT saying that didn't cause others to haveproblems BUT it didn't cause ours on either car.
took it to the dealer, they had for three days trying to duplicate the problem, they noticed my Peripheral iPod adapter (hard wired device) and said that was the cause of it. i guess its a possibilty but there are others who have had this issue with no aftermarket devices installed. a quick fix the the problem, which i found out many months ago, is to disconnect/reconnect the battery. this seems to reset the computer but its only temporary. i wished the error was still on my display when i took it in so they can see for themselves but my battery went dead the day before so i had to recharge, which in turn, reset my computer with no more message. i'm driving with no problems right now but i feel like it will come back sometime. it was a very random thing.
Hi. I have an 06 convertible GT, and the same thing happens. When the DTE/FLI error message surfaces, the whole interior control system goes haywire. The turn signals don't work (on the dash only), the top won't go down, AC won't work, it reads the em brake still on, brake fluid low, and the oil and gas analog guage won't work - and the radio won't recognize the ipod adapter. The performance of theengine isn't affected at all.
I don't understand HOW the ipod peripheral, connected to the AUX port would do this exactly, but I have considered it a possibility.. It is a part sold thru Ford as an accessory for the Shaker systems. It seems to puzzle the heck out of the dealer. I am not convinced that the ipod adapter is what's fouling the system. any input or remedy to this problem is appreciated.

If you have that Ipod Interface, and the DTE FLI error comes up, you're going to notice that the Shaker headunit's backlighting is still lit, even after the car has been off for a while. That Ipod Interface is a hunk of crap. I spent so much time trying to figure out why my car kept doing that, then I upgraded my headunit (no more Ipod Interface) and the problem never came back. I remember reading some where that the part has been recalled by Peripheral or something, but I can't remember where. Frustrating, eh?
the cause is your PERIPHERAL IPOD ADAPTER. not the tune or anything else. it took me awhile myself to be convinced that the ipod adpater was the cause but now i'm sure. Peripheral is already aware of the problem and is giving refunds. if you purchased through another dealer, like i did from discountcarstereo.com, they should also honor the refund. i've already recieved instructions from discountcarstereo.com to return my very dissapointing iPod adapter. hope this info helps.
Thanks for the input, everyone. The ipod adapter is coming out as soon as I figure out what to replace the skipper 500 unit with. Any suggestions, as I have never had anything but a factory head unit before...? Does JBL make anything as a nice upgrade? ... I guess I'll check in the entertainment forums.
