Default Is it better to get a system tune or a chip?

Im looking to reprogram my car and i was wondering if i should buy the chip to go onto my cold air intake or program the whole damn thing. Is the chip irretraceable? I dont want to have to "reflash" as i've seen in previous threads. If its all the same please forgive me and kindly let me know

well, be prepared to be bombarded with replies saying to flash with a programmer and install a new intake. honestly, i'm sure the chip will increase performance but it still won't measure up to what you can do with a tuner. as for the intake, it pretty much goes hand in hand with a tuner. if you can only afford one at a time, you'll notice more difference with the tuner first rather than getting the intake first. i plan on getting a chip for my 2.5L ranger but for the mustang, take advantage of the great mods for our cars since the 4.0's have a lot of potential.
