Default N/A Power

hey guys, im new to both the site and mustangs in general. got my first stang earlier this year (for my first car), and ive gotten into pretty heavy reading about performance upgrades. id like to stay without a power adder for now for my v6, its an 07, and i was just wondering how far i can go without worrying about serious engine problems, and trying to keep it N/A.Right nowthe only upgrade isa Pypes cat-backdual exhaust conversion with an x-pipe.I want more power, buti'm concerned that im gonna ruin the engine. some input as to who to go to and what parts to look into would be appreciated. thanks.

Welcome to MF!!! A custome tune and a CAI will certainly wake up your car, and if it's an auto your shifts will be firmer. Regardless of tranny type, throttle lag will be minimized too.

Be careful around here, the members are Mod-aholics and will only enable your addition.

thanks alot! when you say custom tune do you mean like a flash tuner or having a shop completely rework the computer? and will stuff like a larger throttle body and things to open up the flow of air through the engine help it out? i was talking to a rep from Pypes about completely redoing the exhaust (headers hi-flow cats and then my cat back system that i have) and he said that all that will do is make the car lose power cause it will flow too much. he said that if i get some type of power adder the high flow everything will be good for the engine, but since its n/a it wont be of any use, is that also true for the larger throttle body?

The cat back system you have now is good for duals. Anyone on here will tell you a throttle body will do next to nothing for performance.

The top mods to do are some kind of exhaust, then you want to get a cold air intake and a computer tune to go with it. The intake and tune is an awesome mod to the car. Then to get the power to the ground, some gears and limited slip diff will wake the car up even more.

If your interested in doing these mods, use the search on this forum and you will find a lot of good info. Any questions feel free to ask.

hey, thanks man! umm... as far as handling is concerned, whats the best way to get it to hold tighter thru corners and such (i wanna make it into a road racer) ive put 20" asa five spoke wheels and bf goodrich KDW (the snake skin pattern) on it and dropped it with eibach lowering springs. what should be my next move with that? id like to have a fully mapped out plan before i start, so its not a randomly peiced together project. Thanks for all your help.

Upgrade to GT sway bars or get some after market ones. The GT ones are thicker and are cheap.

well. at the moment the budget is kinda undetermined, im just kinda earning and spending, but ultimately this is gonna be a long term project that i will keep for a long time, i just want things done right, so spending a little extra cash for good parts and things that wont go all to crap is what i want to do. My car isnt gonnabe a project that gets finished in a couple months, or even a couple years most likely, so budget right now is a big "?". but for right now all the bells and whistles arent necessary so if you could give me advice on the best bang for the buck as far as handling goes it would be appreciated.

oh and one more question for anyone, i know i said i wanted to stay n/a for now, but when my factory warranty goes out i want to get it supercharged and i just saw a roots type blower for the v6, anyone have a preference between the centrifugal superchargers and the roots type? and will all brand blower pulleys work on all superchargers? i know there are different sizes, so if the kit i buy comes with a 3" pulley can i swap it with any smaller say 2.70" pulley for more boost? thanks.

so willthe swaybarsfit directly tothe v6, or will there have to be some modification for the car to take them?

and do pretty much all the GT take off parts fit i realize there are some major differences and engine parts arent interchangable and the rearend is different, also how much would a swap to an 8.8" rearend cost and what exactly is involved with doing that?

The explorer express x-charger comes with a 3" pulley that can be swapped out for a 2.8" pulley for more boost.
