Default Changing gauges

Ok kinda of a different question here. I have 07 PP w/out the IUP. I have only the basic 4 gauge cluster and would prefer to have the 6 gauge cluster w/ message center and my color. I called my local dealer and they could order the 6 gauge cluster but werent sure if there would have to be any additional wiring harnesses needed. They are a very small dealer and have never performed this task before. Has anyone upgraded theirs before and what were the items needed? I would think that it would be plug and play but im not sure about the mycolor either. I know ill at least need the switch if not that harness as well. The mycolor feature would be nice but not neccessary I mainly want my oil pressure/amp gauges and the message center.

i just called the ford dealership, and they told me it wont work. said if it doesnt come with the 6 gauge pod, then the other two sensors aren't installed on the car, and something about the ecu wont work right w/o it.

for me the mycolor thing is hokey. I appreciate you wanting to add some extra gauges though. I have to think an upgraded dash would go in although you may need the sending units to go with them. As an alternative someone makes a 2 gauge cluster that mounts on the dash. It looks good too, I think it's a Shelby copy from the early 60's. You could get 2 gauges and install it that way, then you'd have real gauges instead of the factory 'close to real' gauges.

there are also 3 gauge pods for the little dip in the dash that look sweet.

and, do y'all know if i can have the GT Speedometer installed on the six? once i get my retune and the speed limiter taken off, the speedo on the 6 still only goes to like 120.

The sending units are already installed. Otherwise how would the dummy lights work? The difference being is that the sending units I would need have to be variable resistance instead of on/off. Easy replacement. I popped my panel where the mycolor would be and there is a harness there behind it. So I think all I will need is 2 senders, mycolor switch, and gauge assembly. Im thinking the gauge assembly would be the sameas far as the harness is concerned to facilitate assembly at the factory.

I did this same swap on my '07GT. I also contacted my dealer first but they did not know if it would work or needed extra harness or sensors. Nothing extra is needed. It is a plug and play.

Do a search for this post: Just did instrument cluster upgrade with my color

See below:
It's really easy to do..Disconnect your battery thenall you do is pull off the cover on your cluster, just grab the big ring surrounding the tach. with one hand and the big ring surrounding the speedometer with the other and pull.. it will pull right out of the clips.. you might want to make sure you have you wheel down all the way first that way you can get it out.. After you do that your cluster just has like 6-8 screws that you unscrew to remove the cluster.. at the back it should be plugged in.. soflip up the locking clip and just unplug it. Secondly you take a flat head screwdriver and without scratching your molding you place it under the three unused buttons you have and just slowly pry it out.. it should have a wiring harness connected to the back as well.. the you just take your two new parts plug them in and put everything back.. it might take you ten minutes tops.. very easy
Theperson to contact is Willie.
