Took all of 45 mins to get the old muffler removed and GT Take Off installed. Sounds awesome at idle and low RPMs, but that awesome sound goes away under load/WOT. It sounds waaaaay too ricey for a Mustang. Feels like I got some more low-end torque and throttle response though. Prolly all in my head.

Now to de-rice my Stang.

Anyone go from Single GT Take-Off to duals? Did the ricey note go away? Did you use X, Y, or an H-Pipe?

I'm leaning towards the Ninosport Y-pipe, but I'm open to opinions.

Thanks.
Damn, If you think thats ricey, i think you'll be sadly dissapointed with any other muffler you try, with the exception of flowmaster. DUAL GT takeoffs i believe wont be near as loud, cuz you have 3 cylinders going through each muffler as opposed to 6 through one.

It's hard to get a good sound out of the v6. The GT takeoff was too quiet at idle for me...and way too high-pitched at WOT. I went with a single MAC, but had to add a resonator to get rid of drone. It sounds great at idle, but is not mustang like at WOT (a little euro.. but deep).. it sounds good.. but could be better. Keep in mind that even the GT guys have trouble getting good sound out of their s197s... because of the axleback exhaust on our cars.

You can here my exhaust by clicking on the link in my sig.. or this video:

I have Pypes Performance x-pipe with mid pipe and GT Takeoffs......sounds nice....not rice.
Just today I got on it a little and thought how nice my single GT takeoff sounded. Then I wondered if the true duals with x-pipe would sound that much better? Is the sound better enough to pay $300+ for Pypes x-pipe and dual takeoffs?

Got the full Pypes dual kit with Street Pros.

Way louder than the GT takeoffs, so it is a preference thing.

Idle and up to 2500 is very deep, over 2500 sounds like a Ferrari 246GT.

Exterior idle: http://media.putfile.com/SOHCman-Pyp...er-8k-Break-In

It will always be a V6, albeit, a mean V6.

Enjoy whichever route you choose, just go duals. The look is a huge plus at shows & cruises.

Just an update... the "ricey" high pitched noise seems to be gone now some 2000 miles later (about 4K total on the car). It sounds pretty awesome now. I'm happies.

I know what you mean about the ricey sound at wot and higher rpm's. It does sound awesome at idle, low speed and deceleration. But the wot and high rpm's sound worse than stock to me. I have about 3000 miles since putting the single GT on and it does seem to have improved a bit, but still has the ricey sound.

I am thinking maybe some of that could be solved with the second muffler and H-pipe. But it is still a V6.
