if you look at the consumer reports ratings the mustang does above average to excellent in the following

engine major
engine minor
engine cooling
transmission
drive system
fuel system
electrical system
climate system
suspension
brakes
exhaust

for the other categories that include audio and body integrity (i.e. rattles) it does poorly. these are the problems i most often see described, lots of rattles, and some audio problems. Now i can handle both of those problems if the mechanical basis of the car is pretty bulletproof. I have 1000 miles with no problems, however it is brand new so it better not have any problems .

I am almost to 50K and I have only had the one-time problem with the unsteady idle that Iblame ona bad tank of gas. Other than that it has run like a champ.

also i don't know where you got the 07, 08 numbers from, because from consumer reports website, all of their reliability ratings are up through 2006.

No, the 2007 and 2008 v6 mustang received a half red circle for predicted reliability.

Four years in a row now, consumer reports gave the 05, 06, 07, and 08 horrible predicted reliability ratings. This is quite a 180 since the 02-04 got impeccable predicted reliability ratings. What gives? I haven't had major problems with mine. I know I've read a few horror stories here and there on this forum about people getting lemons and having to get a new car but that can happen with any car. How good has your stang been to you?
Since no one else mentioned it I'll add the problem with the front end clunking/rattleing on my 2006 coupe with 9,000 miles when hitting small bumps at less that 40 MPH. Has anyone ever figured how to fix/eliminate this annoying problem? I won't notice it for a couple of days and then it will start up again!

I believe there was a tsb released for this problem about a week ago. look in the 2005, 2006, 2007 forum.
