Hey, sounds wierd, I dont have the auto so I cant help you but hope everything works out

did you try bringing it to a dealership? just ask them about it, I'm sure they'll give u some insight on the problem

Ya, English is the 'associate' official language, whatever that means.

Anyway, I got my car only yesterday night, so haven't been able to visit a dealer yet.

The problem has arised just AFTER the transmission fluid was flushed.

you stated he may have had the wrong fluid put in it. Take it to a ford dealer and have it flushed or inspected. Clearly something was wrong with the flush (either not enough fluid, to much fluid, or the wrong fluid) if it occurred following the flush.

Update: I visited a local transmission mechanic here. I have been able to replicate my problem. The car's slipping to neutral whenever I come to a 'harder than a normal' stop. I also feel a slight shudder from the rear after I stop, as if the transmission is struggling to find the right gear. A really hard stop led to the engine dying.

The mechanic seemed to know his stuff but he says he never came across such a problem. I was short of time, so I left for home. I have yet to get the fluid level checked. I'll probably go back on Wednesday morning

He said he will need to run some diagnostics on the car (hooking up something to the car's computer etc). The cost is 95$ an hour for the diagnostics and it will take about 2 hours. Is that reasonable? Should I go back to him? This is the first time Im visiting an auto mechanic in the US, so I have no idea about the costs.

By the way, I went to a Ford dealer and he said he can only look at the car on Wednesday.

Thanks
Mayur

The problem has been solved! It turned out that the guy who was supposed to refill the tranny fluid didnt put enough of it. The car's running fine now.

Kind of glad to see this post. I had my transmission fluid flushed by the dealer about 6 weeks ago and the over the last 2 weeks my car has done this twice. Either I'm stopped at a light and I hit the gas and it revs in neutral and then kicks into gear or I'm coasting and hit the gas and it revs and then kicks into gear. I'm taking it to the dealer, tomorrow, to have them check it and I'll be glad and kind of pissed if that's all that it is. I only have 30k on my car and had no issues until after the trans fluid was flushed. I try to take care of it and now I may have been driving around for 500 miles with possibly low trans fluid. Nice. Wish I could check it myself but I have no easy way to get the car off of the ground and keep it level so I could verify.

I wasn't paying attention and started typing, not realizing it was already solved.

These are a bear to fill properly.
Maybe your brother didnt do the job properly?
I dont see if its a V6 or a V8GT model?
Either way, ask him if he followed the proper steps in filling the tranny...
