independant rear suspension (i hate ford, those cheap SOB's that leave us with a live rear )

Oh well, solid axle goes in a straight line better? Seems like the only thing ford had in mind.

So if you put in an aluminum drive shaft, how much weight does that shave off?
There are a few threads about the al. driveshaft, and I believe it is about 45 pnds. it shaves off the weight.

no no. I believe total weight of the driveshaft was around 42lbs. You save 20lbs. But its not the weight you are saving off the entire car. Its the rotational mass. 20lbs gone off rotational mass is A LOT. For me it would mostly make up the added weight of my wheels.
