Default Anyone ever put the SVT cluster in their V6?

I REALLY hate the 120 MPH gauge they gave us...it's really quite sad that my dad's 2005 Escape shows 8k RPM and 120 MPH. Anyone ever install it? I was thinking of installing it and taking it to Ford themselves to install 4.10 gears and a T-Lok. Could they recalibrate it so it would read properly?

Some people just dont get it, what is on the gauges doesnt correlate to that vehicles performance. Performane isnt how fast you can go, its about getting there. I can get to 120 in anything you put me in, but performance is getting to 120 in 10 seconds versus 3 minutes. As for the rpms, if you ran the 4.0 to 8 grand you would be picking up pieces of the engine off the road behind you.

You'll be lucky to find a ford dealer to do that work and they will bend you over to do it. Do some research and find a reputable shop and have them do it. Then buy youself an Xcal and you can recalibrate the speedo yourself.

u can do it but honestly wats the point. a friend tht i work with has a 84 Gt with a 351, and his speedo only goes up to 85mph. and he hits tht in second gear. and his rpm tach only goes up to 7,000 too.but the point is, u can have all the numbers u want on the tach, but the engine will still redline at about 5700 rpm. these engines are not made to rev to 8,000. we dont make our power tht high in the power band. and personally, u dont need to go over 120 on a public road anyway, and if u do go over it, and u get caught by the 5.0 ur not going to talk ur way out of tht one. but when ur at the track, the board will tell u how fast u went down the 1320 anyway

What's "lame" about it? It's nearly double the highest posted limit in most of the country, and the stock factory driveshaft on early S197s is known to have an unfortunate tendency to come apart at speeds around 115mph.

You have an '05. If you haven't had the driveshaft replaced with an aftermarket one, odds are yours has no retaining clips on the universal bearing cups on the shaft (the cups are just held by being staked with some roughed up metal in the yokes). You do NOT want to be doing over 100mph when the driveshaft lets go and chews up the bottom of the car.

I've had my car (which has significant suspension and tire upgrades, a quality aluminum aftermarket driveshaftplus a driveshaft safety loop) up to between 100 and 110 mph for nearly a half hour (legally with a police escort). That sort of speed is plenty fast in even a performance modded S197, in one with the stock suspension and a questionable driveshaft? It'd be stupid and potentially suicidal imho.

Every time someone mentions the stock driveshaft coming apart it scares the **** outa me. Also, it seems that they always mention the '05. Does anyone know if Ford addressed this issue on the '07 or '08's ? An alluminum driveshaft is way down the list of mods for me, but If it's that big of a deal on my '07 then I'd bump it up to the top.

what are the ages of those who think its lame that it only goes to 120? who gives a crap. i was just a kid when i thought it was awesome to have 140mph or higher on the speedometer. that was before i knew the difference between numbers on the speedo and actual performance. unless you mod your car to actually go faster than 120, then it really shouldnt matter.
