well you can run a true dual without an x or h except you will lose backpressure so you will lose a little bit of torque. A crossover pipe is used to equalize the pressure between the two pipes. This also equalizes the sound. The x will give u slightly more power over the h but the H has a much better sound but if your looking for proven power just go with a single mrt going duals has a better look but you have to get everything right to get a great exhaust system.
There's still a debate over the X versus the H pipe performance wise that as far as I know was never resolved. Supposedly both setups are within <2-3hp of each other so it's really up to you. I think I'm actually leaning more to the H pipe now because I want a lower-end sound and the smallest amount of drone possible.

optras just wanted to let you know i went frow the single gt muffler to Pypes X-pipe and mid pipes and used the gt mufflers and im very happy with the setup just to give you an opion on them
