i saw this on another site. but here is the problem my ebrake doesnt lock up my rear tires like it should be doing. like i can be on a hill and it would roll down if i wasnt pointing at a curb to stop it. but should this work or not?
1. Once you pull up your ebrake all the way, your car SHOULD NOT move. That is the function of the ebrake. Even when you are moving it should slow down the car VERY noticably.
2. If your handbrake is very light, or feels like when you pull it up, "yeah its pulling BUT its not locking up the tires or holding the car in place at all" then well then you need to adjust it. The way to do that is very easy, just pull up your handbrake and bring it down many times. I say 20-30 times. Then it will self adjust. You'll notice it getting harder and harder.
NOW here is the tricky part, if its getting harder and harder, try to pull it up easier in the next pull. Because if you put your full force behind it at every pull, YOU WILL SNAP THE LINE! Thats what happened to me, i pulled it too hard towards the end and i didn't know when to stop.
My suggestion, do the adjusting for about 10 pulls, then do another 10 but with less force then do another 10 with a lot less force. You will or should notice a big difference.
I said 30 times, but it might not even take you that much. May be 20 would do, or may be just 10. Becareful though, you don't want to snap the cable.

RE: is this true
Yes the info is pretty accurate. On cars that i would do the rears disc pads on we had to pull the brake alot to set the pistons. I used to hold the button down and pull it about 20 times. Yes it should get a lil tighter.. If it doesnt you may have pads that are very low and need to be changed. Cars do seem to roll forwards but not backwards with some Ebrakes. Like on my hummer the ebrake works good when in a driveway and i dont want to roll backwards. but not when i want to stop it from going forward.
