Default Cold air intakes

thinkin' about getting a cold air intake
what do you guys think about K&N?
ford racing? C&L? MAC? any other recommendations?
oh and i'd love to install it myself
do i need to buy a chip tuner? (i ve seen them for over 300$ is there anyway to avoid that?)
please keep in mind i've never done any mod work but i'm good with my hands
any advice would be greatly appreciated!
thanks
-Dan

I'll throw you a curve ball.....I'd go with Tuneable Inductions! Great price and when I got the dyno tune, Alt Auto told me it was one of the most consistent CAI throught the A/F mixture band.

BTW VMP and Air Arid are the same as well as the Ford Racing and Steeda.
Next and last but not least, the CAI makes lil difference besides looks, think of it as containers, its like a Beer Stien or a Beer Mug, it really dones't makedifference its whats inside that counts and that is the TUNE....take heed.....GET a GOOD TUNE!

Get the C&L with an SCT tune. Very easy install for both the kit and the tune! Can't go wrong and it'd make a new stang outta your baby.

I've got the bbk. If you are looking for cheap the BBK is only 170 to 180 and I've only heard of 1 person needing a tune with it. I stress though a tune really really wakes it up and it's no promise that it absolutely will not need a tune. If you want the performance I'd say save for a higher end intake and tuner combo
stock mustang new: $17000+
cai + tuner combo: $500-$700
owners reaction to new power: priceless
addiction to adding more power: bankrupting
LOL

or maybe buy one of those wires for pc - car connectivity and do the tune with some software i can download
any thoughts? it just doesnt make any sense to me to buy this tuner when i'll only be using it once!

like i said, if money aint a thing and you want a looker along with a performer to go along with unmatched quality (except for the cheesy heat shroud), the C&L is a great choice. rmays suggestion on the TI is a very good one also if you want a great deal along with a customized look and equal, if not slightly better performance than the c&l. i actually was ready to order a TI unitl i found a used C&L for the same price. good luck dude.
