Shaker scoop with CAI?

Shaker scoop with CAI?
Can you install a shaker hood scoop on a car that has a CAI already instaled on it? It seems the shaker hood scoop connects to the stock air box. If that's true how does the shaker hood scoop connect to the CAI without using the stock air box? I love the look of the shaker hood scoop and would like it to be functional also.

if the intake is in the same location as the stock intake, all you need to do is cut a hole in the heat shield and put the tube inside it. if the intake is in a different location you need to get some tubes custom made

Go to the CDC website...
They have pictures of it with a CAI and also the Vortech system.
I believe it was for V8 applications but the air box is the same.
Also, my Shaker is functional but no gain in HP sadly.

Easy to do. Patience, a steady hand, a little vision and the right tools. You can do this at home in the span of a few hours.

You guys do realise that A Shaker system without an enclosed airbox (like the factory one) is anything but functional.
The true benefitof a Shaker is with a carburetor (direct feed)... But who wants that nowadays.[8D]

You are so right. No HP gains but it looks much better than the factory air box. When I first swapped over to the CAI I used the Midwest plenum cover. It gave a nice underhood view along with the billet items that I had already added. I then decided that I wanted to add some more exterior visual effect and I began looking at different hoods and scoops. I decided to swap over to the CDC shaker purely for the visual view. I'm in my fifties and fondly remember the actual shaker systems of the old mustangs. I know my system will never measure up to them but it does look good and I have the enjoyment of knowing that I did the work myself. While the Mustangs of yesteryear could turn the asphalt into rubble to compare them to our modern day cars it would be like comparing chipped granite to jellybeans. Enjoy your ride it's far more reliable. The old days meant frequent tuneups, frequent flats with bias ply radials, points closing at the most inconvenient times and single digit gas mileage. I remember the Arab Oil Embargo. I also remember that going in a straightline wide open was an adrenaline rush but trying to stop or take a corner was heartstopping. Ours are far superior in their own way. I like my Mustang very much and plan on holding on to it. I think Ford hit a homerun when they restyled it.

I used the CDC system. I dremeled the CDC shroud and used automotive weatherstripping as a seal around the edges. This also provided a good weather seal to the hood area. This in no way changes the way the system mounts to the throttlebody area. I then bought the air tube from Pep Boys. I used a 3" metal hole saw and an 18 volt dewalt drill to drill the outer area of the CAI box. I used a 3" inlet connector to secure the air tube to the connector. As for the rest of it: Easy job. Just always think one step ahead of where you are when your doing the installation. Tools needed are a jig saw with quality metal cutting blades, springloaded center punch. Quality drill bit for your pilot hole (make sure you tape it at a point to ensure a bumpstop) trim removal tool, rivet gun, xacto knife and a white grease pencil. Tape your template in the proper location and make sure you protect your car by covering all of the exposed areas. When you start to cut and drill you will sling nasty little metal shavings everywhere. I used moving blankets. This is a job that you can do yourself.

Good job.
I went the hard way and used the V8 enginecover (V6 is so ugly) and engineered it so the oil fill cap comes out below the Mustang lettering[8D].
