Default No dumping on an s197? (exhaust)

I stopped by a muffler shop earlier this week and asked if it was possible to have some custom work done. My idea was to have two glass packs put on and to have the pipes dumped half way between the car (no pipes sticking out the back) ending with turndowns. He looked under my car (got on his belly) and just flat out said with my kind of car (08 s197) it isn't possible. He told me there was nowhere to mount the hangers and it wouldn't be safe because of the gas placement. I bought my car about a month ago and have yet to jack it up to take a look.

I had the setup done on my 04 and LOVED it. Can someone tell me if this setup is possible or is the mechanic just blowing smoke up my

Thanks

I saw an 06 with the turned-down dual pipes.
It was parked at the custom exhaust shop that I had my single installed.
The tech told me that the pony owner wanted the stealth look, and so they installed the duals to end before the edge of the rear bumper.

Nothin' better lookin' than two bigass shotgun barrels jutting out of the bumper! I wouldn't want to hide the duals, but to each his own. Hope you figure out a way to do it! Fab up some hangers in that b1tch!

To shorten them and dump them down probaby wouldn't be safe, because he is right, there are no places to put a hanger and the exhaust goes near the gas tank already.

They would need to dump down close to the back or sides.

The pony I saw had them dumped pretty close to the back edge. Bend your knees and you can see the pipes.

Is the S197 saddle bag gas tank not just molded plastic?

I know it has some type of fiberglass insulation around it, but I haven't look at it closely.

No point of putting in glass packs if you're just going to end up putting turn downs on them, in myopinion.

...

Just go with simple old cut-outs!
