How often do you fellas clean your CAI?

RE: How often do you fellas clean your CAI?
I still haven't stuck a CAI on mine but working on it. I had one in my old Explorer and happened to have an extra filter (along with the recharger kit). Cleaned it whenever I changed the oil. Instead of waiting around for the filter to dry after cleaning, I just popped in the extra and let the other dry till next oil change....

Remember, a partially dirty filter traps more dirt than
a freshly cleaned and oiled filter. I would go 30K before
cleaning unless you drive dusty dirt roads most of the time.
A pair of pantyhose over the filter acts like a prefilter for bugs
and bigger debris. Just pop it off and replace with the other leg
and you are good to go without cleaning that poor filter every 5K.
And dont even think about using compressed air to clean an air filter. [:@]

I have around 15k on mine and never cleaned it. K&N spec say you can go 50K miles depending on where you drive. If your not in the desert you dont have to clean itvery often.

I've got about 6,000 miles on my CAI since it's last cleaning/prepping. What is a reasonable schedule for cleaning the CAI? Too early for me to clean again at 6k?

Manufacture of mine says every 100,000 in normal conditions. I completely changed the cone at 60K for $30.00. I was still getting good gas mileage at the time too. Probably could have gone 100K miles without cleaning or replacing. After 40K miles, cone filter still looks good and getting same great mpg which is all these CAI do anyway.
