Not to dash your hopes or anything, but just trade your car for a manual it will be cheaper and will be designed to have a manual instead of put together by you.

I believe you will need the following and this is just off the top of my head
-Transmission
-Clutch
-Pressure Plate
-Throwout bearing
-Flywheel
-Bellhousing
-Driveshaft
-Clutch cable
-Clutch pedal
-Shifter assembly
-God knows what other miscellaneous parts

maybe a junkyard for really cheap. alot of times cars are considered totaled and the tranny is fine. there are a couple other things you'll need.

Not to mention the PCM thinks it has an auto to work with.
The electronics and associated software is for an Auto and
not for a manual. Sell that Automaticstang and get a manual
factory installed.

Too much work just to swap the transmission to a manual I think...unless you have the time, experienceand $$$. Like said previously, you might be better off doing a trade.

It seems that you (08_stang) have a dilemma, why buyan auto and later want to change to a manual? like many have said, it is better just to go back to the dealership and trade itfor a manual.

With you having a new car, it just seems like a waste to go manual after paying for the auto. I would take it back to the dealer and trade it for a manual if that's what you really want. I will say this, manuals are hard to find in a V6.

In an older car with very little computer control I would say go for it but our Stangs are very much a computer dominated beast. It can be done but you are looking at alot of issues electronically because the auto has almost all electronic sensors that will shut your computer down if it doesn't get a signal from them. You probably would come out with less stress and close to even in cost to trade for a manual Stang. You also have to take into consideration that if you go to a stock v6 manual tranny (I don't know this to be fact but I hear it alot) it will not hold as much power before you have to swap out for a bigger tranny compared to the stock auto tranny.
