Default vmp and nitrous

i've been doing a lot of research lately and have decided that im going to go the nitrous route. however i do have a couple of Q's for you guys.
1) if i do the vmp intake and tune i see that a nitrous tune is available, would that be sufficient?
2) i also noticed that the vmp intake leaves the stock inlet tube, is it safe to run nitrous with this?
3) would you guys recommend bama with a c&l instead?

If I was going to do nitrous, I'd probably get my car dyno'd. You need to be safe with that stuff-if it's done properly you're alright, but I wouldn't take a chance with an engine that's so new. Just my opinion. Nice looking ride, by the way.

I don't have the stripes anymore-they got sun-damaged. It looks more badass without them, actually. Thanks for the compliment, though. I need some new pics...maybe I'll have time tomorrow.

1. Most N2O kits aren designed for the stock tune and will specify if/when a custom tune is needed. The Zex 4.0 kit is adjustable and safe on the stock tune w/ a 55 hp shot.
2. Again normally designed for the stock intake. VMP can sell you the C&L if you want. It offers no performance improvement so you have the option ti save some money. I tink it makes for a better nitrous install.
3. See answer for #2.

The Zex install pdf's are online if you want to check then out.
As you can see below from the pdf the bigger shot you run the more you need to retard the timing. Zex recomends colder plugs, robably not needed at 55hp. 100 shot should have a cutom tune. 75? I'm going to try my VMP 87 performance tune with 89 octane to start. I'm just begining on my nitrous set up so I'm passing along my research, not first hand experience as yet.

[blockquote]ZEXâ„¢ #82307 Nitrous System Tune-Up Specs
55 hp 75 hp 100 hp
Nitrous Jet (950 psi) 32 40 46
Fuel Jet (40 psi) 19 26 30
Ignition Retard (deg.) 0 2 4

Engine modifications: The ZEXâ„¢ nitrous system, out of the box, is designed to work as a bolt-on kit
for stock or mildly modified vehicles. Mildly modified vehicles would include header upgrades,
exhaust upgrades, air filter kits, etc. If major engine modifications have been performed, a fuel pump
upgrade will be required for safe nitrous system operation. Major engine modifications would include
turbochargers, superchargers, aftermarket cylinder heads, head porting, camshafts, intake manifolds,
etc. Failure to upgrade the fuel system when using nitrous in these highly modified applications may
cause serious lean conditions that can result in severe engine damage.

(last step of the installation) 10. Check fuel quality & ignition timing. The last thing to do before enjoying your new nitrous
system is to ensure that premium fuel (92 R/M Octane or better) is in the fuel tank and that
your ignition timing is programmed correctly. All recommended ignition timing retard
amounts, in the Tune-Up Specs, are calculated off of the base, stock ignition table. It is not
recommended to go above 55hp without an ECU reprogram, designed for nitrous. If the
correct ignition timing program is not used for the higher horsepower settings, severe engine
damage may occur from detonation

Both companies are good tuners. You can run a 75 shot opn stock tune with premium fuel (I do not recommend that). You need a dyno tune to keep it safe as you can. A must is a window switch as well as a bottle heater. A purge is not mandatory but recommended. Good luck.
