20's???
its not an even number. lol. its just not a popular size for domestic cars because... well... it just isnt.... its like trying to find 23" rims. you cant. well... hardly. once you get that big odd numbers just become inbetween sizes that no one sees the need for. they think if you can do 19's why not do 20's? once you get that big in diameter it no longer becomes a fitment issue really and theres no reason to make inbetweens that big. for smaller cars like civics you cant fit 18's unless you stretch the wheel wells (according to this guy i know who has a civic) somost companiesmake 17's. for that big look without modifications. its really simple supply n demand; if its not in demand you dont need a supply. so no one makes them really. its all about what can make money my friend...
In hindsight I guess i never thought about it like that lol. I have 17's and i tend not to notice a huge difference between them and the 18's (besides one inch lol) the 20' s are awesome and cool but i dont want to have that bad of ride quallity, especially in this jenk *** ohio city the roads are mean now and then to finish the look and lower it 1.5" that would be like torture every day driving to and from work. Is there any way to dampen the abuse on the ride quality or are you just stuck with it?
South Carolina. The roads are horrible, road "pythons" several inches high, pot holes the size of manhole covers. My teeth get jarred just going to work a few miles away, And I'm stock as far as shocks/struts/springs. I couldn't imagine enjoying the car with stiffer springs, and super stiff sidewalls. And I can't forget to mention all the pieces/parts I would be dribbling every where.
I would say go with 18's i have heard 20's give you less performance, here is where i bought my package...http://www.americanmuscle.com/2005wheels.html. I just recently bought 18's deep dish black for my 06 stang.18x10 for the back and 18x9 for the front and bought the sumitomo HTRZ2 preformance tires. I have 275/35/18 on the back rims and 255/45/18 on the front. Not only do they look bad *** but I noticed ahuge difference in how the car hugs the road. i can take turns at around 45 mph and not screetch. It wasdeffinatlyworth it.shippingand mount and balance is free from that website. Good luck!
to the dragon, the ride quality isnt THAT bad. im livin in an ohio town too, columbus, and drive the streets alot, and its definitely liveable. unless youre driving on roads that are nothing but potholes then yeah dont get 20's. heck i'd just stay stock. but im both dropped and on 20's and its nnot as bad as everyone thinks it is. car rides smooth and comfortable. i mean yeah its not a BMW or a lexus, but it rides nice. i'd just about guarntee my 20's hug the road tighter than 18's and they only decrease performance if the car wasnt meant to handle it. ever seen a saleen with 20s? yeah. they come standard. you might gain 40 lbs going from 18's to 20s of the same width. not THAT much difference.
I like the style of the ones i have now just not the color, so i might just go with 18 inch torq thrust rims in chrome. i liek the tir profile where it is so il probably just keep it and see how it looks.
