I am going to buy either the Hurst or the MGW shifter. I was woundering who has what and if the had any vids of them shifting. I want to hear the sounds of the shifts, like how hard they shift and if they are realy clucking or not. If you could help me out that would be great

Go with the Hurst Shifter. I've pushed it around for over a year now and it's fabulous. Jack

Does that get rid of the notchy shifting ?????????

I sat in an '08 Bullittand ran through the gearsand that shifter (which I'm told isa Hurst)was incredibly smooth!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Granted it's a GT tranny but if that's all it takes to get rid of our notchy shifting then I'm looking for one too. Because from what I hear GT's have the same notchy shifting.

You really can't get rid of the notchyness in a T-5. Nature of the beast...

Its the tranny thats notchy, not the shifter.
Hurst is the cheapest quality shifter out there
hence the low low price. Forum members get em
then get sick of them and end up getting something
better.
They abound used on eBay from private sellers.

I am not sick of my Hurst shifter, as a matter of fact I love it!

Everyone has an opinion and differences in what they are looking for or like in a shifter. I have not tried other shifters

other than the stock version and the Hurst, but I do know the Hurst is a lot better than what came stock.

So when you say you love it, what do you love about it? Does itsmoothout the shifting? Based on the previous poststhe notchiness is the nature of the beast so I'm assuming you mean it calms the beast? I am in no waylookingto race my stang, it's justmy DD. So as my DD I'd love to be able to shift smoother and easier.

I wish I could try one out somewhere. My only experience is my stock V6and that Bullitt edition I sat in (didn't get to drive it ) but I don't think that's comparing apples to apples right, becuase it is a GT tranny ???

The $189 Hurst is fixed at 33% shorter throw than stock. This will increase "notchiness" and make it feel firmer but funner... The MGW costs $299 but is totally adjustable in stick height, centering angle, throw (from Stock-50% shorter) via adjustable joint on the underside of the car. I tried a friends Hurst, Had Stock, a Saleen adapter block (25% shorter throw) , and now have settled on the MGW. It is what all the Hurst owners who are unsatisfied end up going to.

The T-5 is a rock crusher and always will be. the three things I have have done that work is to replace the fluid with Royal Purple Synchormax, add CHE K-Brace and Torque limiters and add the MGW, It shifts in DD mode with two fingers if you wait for the synchro's to catch up. If you are powershifting, the notches are definitly there but they are consistent and easily found unlike a purely stock set-up. The bad news is to set it up as I have , it will cost you..;

RP fluid = $30, 1/2 hour time
CHE torque limiters = $150 and 2 hours time
MGW shifter = $299, 1-2 hours time

so for about $480 and 3 hours under the car, yes the T-5 can be harnessed..... but not tamed.
