Worth a Tune?
Alright let me give you the layout of my situation and don't give me that search bs bc trust me I have just ask the girlfriend how much time I spend on here vs. talking to her. Anyways I have a manual V6 with a K&N air charger setup and was thinking about getting a tuner but with gas prices where they are right now and being a college student I don't think I can pay for the 93 octane. So more than likely will just use the 87 tune possibly the 89 but lets just say I want to use the 87 tune with my setup is it worth it to get a tuner?
haha gotthat search stuff before and it takes the thread off topic....well see thats the thing not sure about it so if I end up just using a 87 tune I want to make sure it was worth it to get the tuner...you get what I'm saying?
If you want to play, you got to pay. I think you sixxers get more from a tune than the V8s. It's not that much more per fillup. This is coming from someone who's paying $800+ per credit hour. I paid $3.49/gal the other day and hit $50 for a full tank for the first time in a while. If I can get ~19mpg in the city, you should be able to also.

well bro, personally when I tune mine I will probably go with the 89...the 87 to me isn't worth the money or effort and from what I have read the performance difference between the 89 and 93 is small. So tune the 89, my buddy has it and "WOW"
Really? bc I have heard that there isn't much difference between the 87 & 89 but the 91 or 93 whichever you can get in your area is where the big difference is. I mean bama don't even offer anything but a performance tune for 87 and 89
eh, don't matter really. The tuner comes with all the tunes installed so the difference between filling with mid and high is typically $.10 so do the math we hold 16 gallons...thats $1.60 difference. Take the plunge man
There is a small difference between my 87 and 89 tunes, but even the 87 tune is a big improvement over the stock set up. Getting rid of the throttle lag was a big improvement itself. The difference in gas at fill up is only about $1.60 so not really a big problem, but I did swap to the 87 tune for the winter because I didn't feel that I needed the extra performance difference while driving on snow.
