Default VMP Tuning

Thinking about grabbing a CAI/Tune pretty soon. Think I'm going to go with VMP. Just wondering if buy directly from them is the only thing you can do. 625 seems a little high. Going with C&L since everyone has nothing but good things to say about them. Any help would be nice.
Going to go with the Gas Mileage 89, Performance 89, and 93 Performance. Any other suggestions?

Thanks.

i am running a tune from VMP and i like it alot. i havent done much pricing for the CAI/tuning combos bc i already had the livewire, i just purchased the tune separately. but the tuner combo you want is w/ 3 custom tunes, so seems pretty good to me.

Maybe look into VMP's custom intake. He claims that it gets the same hp gains as others... I think it's only $450, check out the vendor section.

Then why is the C&L that much more? I don't understand! [:'(]

Well, typically I fill up on the 89 or the 93. Rarely do I use 87 considering the MPG average is usually a little lower and the miles till empty usually isn't quite right.

Hi Tom, I think you're consideration of maybe choosing to go with VMP will prove to be a wise decision. I met Justin Starkey (VMP Owner) this past weekend at the Fantasy of Flight Mustangs and Mustangs car show. Really, really nice guy, and seemingly very knowledgeable. I highly recommend going with the C&L CAI, I'm had it for a year and it's great - quality. Suggestion, be realistic and focus on realizing that it makes a lot of sense to plan to install and run most of the time on a 87 octance tune. Sure there's lots of variations of this octance tune you can install, but with gas prices the way they are and will continue to be, it just makes sense to me anyway to run the cheapest gas with the best designed tune you can buy. Enjoy your ride. Jack

The C&L is a custom piece and that costs money. On a naturally aspirated car Justin's Dyno testing showed NO gain in H.P. w/ the C&Lvs the stock tube. It is a pretty piece so the decsion is more about looks than performance. You can always upgrade to it later.
Right now the 4.0 package is $479. 05-08 Mustang V6 Custom SCT X-Cal2 or X3 Flasher and VMP Intake

prove this statement. because the only way a C&l will improve HP will be on an N/A motor because it wont be able to be used on a f/i car due to relocation of the inlet.

the tube produces no more power but the larger MAF housing DOES. and that is apart of the C&L piece.

if your about looks + performance, get the C&L tube. If you only want performance, get the VMP CAI. even if there is a difference on the dyno, I'M SURE it will never be noticed or felt by the driver. I only felt a small difference when i upgraded from the AEM Brute Force (stock size MAF housing) to my current C&L so the difference between VMP and C&L would be almost nonexistent. JMO.

Here is a page from Justin's website explaining how the dyno shows that the stock tube is adequate.
