Default how hard to remove UDP?

Well long story short I had a shop install some mods a year or so ago, and they installed a UDP which they talked me out of but the guy who worked there screwed it up and ordered it anyway so i got it for free...

well for the past few months my car has been acting very strange... it would randomly not start(dead battery). and without revving the engine the car would loose power to everything (dash, lights, EVERYTHING)..

I replaced battery and it worked fine for a while.. then it started back up again.. but some days it wouldnt have a problem at all.. so i think my udp fried my alternator.. i want to take it off

how hard is it to take it off? the shop that installed it ripped out the intercooler and all that crap.. I hope it isnt that hard.. plus a search of mine lead me to read about a "crush pack" or something that goes on to the pulley, or crank or something??

can someone let me know about this??

if anyone has experience and lives in the fort myers, bonita springs, or naples florida area, id be willing to have you remove the pulley in exchange for the pulley + belt (only has 4k on both) for FREE..

thanks all

I ran a UDP for quite a while never experienced any problems at all with the pulley. I'd say you have another issue other than the UDP.

Have you checked the passenger side floor mat to see if it gets wet? Lots of electrical problems are caused buy the notorious leak problem.

if its an alternator UDP, that will cut the power coming from your alt and could cause the dimming/ loss of power. it will cause your alt to spin less and generate less power but shouldnt cause that severe of problems. check the wiring of your alt to the battery/ground wires an make sure they didnt get butchered.

i'd say a "big three upgrade" will fix this, but i'd post this up in the audio/visual electronics tech section. those guys should be able to help you out. theyre good with this kind of stuff. they have alot of hands on experience.

UDP = Underdrive Pulley

It's designed to send less power to your car's accessories so there is more power to be used by the drivetrain, resulting in a slight horsepower increase.

It shouldn't be any harder to remove than the stock pulley. If you have an impact wrench and a powerfull enough compressor it should only take a second to remove the bolt. If you don't have an impact wrench, then you need either a breaker bar and/or big muscles. Make sure you rent a pulley puller to remove and install the new balancer. Buy a new bolt, and use sealent to seal up the key hole.
