Default MPG

I noticed on the thread "210hp" that the CAFE standards were mentioned along with a comment about the relatively low MPG of the new V6. CAFE allows for a MPG average for the entire car fleet from a company. The Stang V6 is only a part of the total fleet. I don't think 210 hp rateing had much to do with CAFE. The historic mix of V6 to V8 in the Mustang has been 60-70% 6cyl.

As far as MPG of the new V6, I"m very impressed. Before I give the MPG I've been getting I want to say this. The MPG feature in the fancy/schmancy IUG package has proven to be pretty accurate. I've checked a couple of times and it has been within a few tenths of my figures. The other point is that I do very little stop and go driving. I live 24 miles from the town where I conduct most of my business. It is a small town without many stop lights. The worse mileage I have gotten is 25.3. The best, yesterday, on a 126 mile round trip is 29.5.

What MPG are you folks getting?

I don't have the IUP but I have an application on my Palm pilot that calculates the MPG. My average since I got the car has been 20.79. The best I've gotten was 27.9 and the worst was 17.0 (I must have been driving really crazy that week.)

I get 21-22 with a mix of highway and city. The auto seems to work really well in mixed driving, but I'm a bit disappointed with the highway mileage, I only get about 27

Maybe it's the way I drive but in mixed driving, ~40/60 city/highway, I'm getting a little over 26 mpg. I drive relatively conservatively most of the time but not always. My strictly highway driving is over 30 mpg. My best strictly highway mileage was about 33.5 mpg.

Much better mileage than what I expected.

I'll bring this thread back up... I couldn't figure my first tank because the dealership didn't reset the numbers when they filled it. I just finished my 2nd tank and got 25 mpg (about 30% city, 70% highway driving). The digital display showed 24.9, so it does seem to be pretty accurate as mentioned earlier. That's with maybe 10% use of the A/C, it's been pretty cool here. Oh, and 25% with the top down which probably doesn't help the mileage much But I was pleased, since the auto is rated 25 highway I was expecting to get more like 22-23 combined.

I get about 21-22 and I drive half city/half highway to and from work. I do drive her pretty hard though, I could probably do better if I would slow down.

Ditto to that at only 700 miles. So I expect it to still go up.
I do also have a K&N air filter installed, other than that my v6 is stock.
