Nice detail! You only have to lock your keys in the car one time to make that worth the investment.

I dont know why yours wudnt fit.. my aftermarket gas cap is smaller than the stock one.. I think..

you can mount yours on the cowl of your hood, on that flat black part that is right across from your windshield wipers.

Yeh, the key pad fits behind the gas door, just there is no where flat to stick it. Where the swing part of the bracket mounts to the actual circular door partis raised so leaves a ridge instead of flat. I did think about that area next to the windshield wipers.
Might just mount it on the garagae wall so I don't have to keep going in the house for keys everytime I need something from the car!

Heres what I do. It works for me.

Always carry two sets of keys and have a cheap backup.
This is extra insurance if the first set is LOST,
not locked in the stang as you all seems to be doing somehow.
And dont say, "I would never loose my keys",
cause if you are locking them inside you
are a prime candidate for loosing them as well.
And how many of you can remember at will your
key code just in case you have to have a dealership
cut you anotherkey in an emergency?
Memory like a elephant. 4 numbers and a letter.
Now for the cheap back-up system thats in place.
I have a magnetic reed switch as well inside my
drivers side weaterstripping that is hooked to the
SJB unlock wire and all I need is a magnet to activate
it in a real pinch. The high power rare earth magnet is
conviently stored under the vehicle within easy reach.
Much cheaper and less obtrusive than the Ford keypad
option.
I also have the roll the windows up with the trunk unlock
button mod as well. Push the trunk unlock on the key fob
once and the windows roll up if they are down. If they are
up already, nothing happens. Just push it twice fast like
when coming out of the store with the windows already up
and the trunkpops as normal. Window down trunk popping
causes the windows to roll up but its a simple mod without
addressing this minor inconvience.
But I do like the way your system works for you.

I have never lost or misplace the keys, nor have I ever locked my self out. I did however find this item to be of use when I am outside and forget something in the car. Instead of going all the way inside for keys, I can just hit the keypad. I like your magnet idea, but not sure how to set that up, so for me, the keypad is a simple solution.

The key in the pocket allows me to gain access without the main set of keys.
I always wear clothes when outside getting something out of the stang so
the extra key is with me at that time.
The door unlock trick is super simple and only one wire needs to be soldered
and two stage heat shrinked for that factory installed appearance.
The other wire is grounded at a factory ground location.

The DarkBlue/LiteGreen wire at C214 near the drivers side kick panel
where it comes from the drivers side door jamb pass thru.
Ground this wire and the doors unlock.
Magnet reed switch, RadioShack $5.
