Default RE: Header install problems???

The things that Jeff noted above are real helpful. The passenger's side will be the easiest to install. In fact, I took out the whole battery assembly, battery, tray and all, and it gave me a wealth of room to work on the passenger's side. See pic below. The first big step for the installation is to get the car up on ramps so you can get under the front end and loosen the exhaust pipes from the stock headers and drop them down. I unbolted these connections first and then loosen the connection at the mid-pipe so I could completely drop the front portion of the exhaust system down and out of the way. This creates room to spare. It's also a lot easier to loosen some of the nuts on the exhaust manifolds from under neath the car. As for tools, I didn't use one torx wrench at all. Other than the studs that hold the exhaust manifolds on, there are no torx sockets needed for the job. Everything is box wrenches, sockets, extensions, and rachets. To make the reinstall of the driver's side EGR tube real easy, install it onto the header before you drop the header in place. The header will then slip into position from either dropping it done in from the top or slipping it up into position from underneath the car. Take your choice. Install the stock nuts on the the stocks manifold studs first to finger tight, then reconnect the EGR tube to the connection on the top front of the engine. Again, finger tight to get things lined up and going. Then it's just a job of retightening all manifold nuts till they're tight. You don't want to over tighten these nuts, don't want to snap a manifold stud. Forget the torque wrench, there's little or no room to mess with this big of a wrench anyway. I think if you retighten all bolts to what seems a good tightness, everything will be fine. Again like Jeff said, there are a few nuts on the driver's side that are so hard to get to, it will take a 1/4 turn each attempt to get the nuts tight. BE PATIENT. Lane, we'll get you there, shame you don't live near by, I'd love to help you out cause I know what it takes to do this job. Take care, Jack.
