Default Education on exhaust please

Hi-
I have a 08 V6 and would like to know the benefits of adding a GT take off muffler. they can be had pretty cheap and it looks like my muffler is not welded on but bolted on. I do not want to add duel exhausts just adding the muffler what will be the benefit? Will I need a tune (pretty sure I read in the forums that I will not) And since I'm in a asking mood. What will shorty headers give me as a benefit with out adding duel exhausts.

THANKS
Dave

no tune needed. Shorty headers may be good for a couple hp on a 6? Most won't deal with the hassle and costs of install.
You looking to ad a gt muffler to you 06?

It sounds horrible. This kid at my school has one on his v6.. it backfires while he is idling, and sounds terrible.

When I bought my car the previous owner had put a GT takeoff muffler on it. Wasn't throaty enough for me...
$700 later with a JBA dual exhaust setup and some GT Takeoff Mufflers as well as a custom tunes I'm pretty satisfied.

Other than a little more sound, the muffler won't make too much difference.

I had a gt takeoff on for a year and a half - it sounds much better than the stock v6 can, its cheap, and it is a great place to start with the mod disease

Definitely better than your stock V6 muff.

It'll sound better (our stockers are so quiet), you might get a few horsepower (3-5 max seems to be the general consensus) and your gas mileage will probably improve a little bit since the GT muffs are less restrictive.

If you get one with a chrome tip or whatever, it'll also improve the look at bit too.

Considering how cheap they are, it's definitely worth it.
