oh damn...
ur almost better just to buy and 8.8 with the gear of ur choice dont mess around with the 7.5 its weak and ur just gonna break it again even with a true trac ican promise you that an axle is like 900 slap it in and ur good ur still gonna spend 800 to 1k rebuilding ur 7.5 might as well put a good axle in it thats what i did and i dont regret it
the axle shafts are the same for 28 spline on 7.5 and 8.8, the biggest advantage the 8.8 has is the ability to run 31 spline axles
a hardened set of axle shafts, a DTT, girdle, and girdle stud kit (all available at DTS posted above if you look around) and you will have a damn solid rear end that weighs a good 80 lbs less then an 8.8, there are a handful of sn-95 guys that have been running 7.5s with eatons/detroits with 400+ ft.lbs
and a stock 8.8 isnt THAT strong, ive blown the spiders out of a 8.8 tlok on a stock mach 1 which, even though they have 28 splines vs the 31s in the new ones. but fords parts are replacement parts, he even said he drives his car, hard, as he should, that along with the 20s i would try and stay clear of ffrp stuff
or find a wrecked GT with an 8.8 real cheap and throw a true trac or an eaton E-locker (posi unit that is an electric locker) but if you find aused 8.8 it should be rebuilt anyways
you cant really say get an 8.8 to have a stronger rear, if you do want a 100% no question asked bullit proof rear, get a 9"

last night my friends and i went out to just screw around and before i even got to my buddies house that we were meeting up at, i downshifted to first (i was going 10 mph), threw up the RPMS and dropped the clutch just to be an *** and have a little shot of acceleration, and this loud "'clunk clunk clunk clunk" happened.
