Whine In Reverse

Every now and then i get a real nasty whine when i put the car in reverse. Never in drive or anything else, jus reverse and it only happens sometimes. Any idea what it is?

do you mean as your reversing or when your stopped and put it into reverse?

it must be that you actually have a supercharger and it only comes on in reverse

Is your car manual or an auto?
Mine is manual and it does sound different when in reverse, but that is normal.

Yea mine too it reminds me of the sound an old time TAXI Cab made. LOL

an auto, and it's as long as the car is in reverse gear, but only sometimes.

somedays i can put 'er in reverse and nothing, other days i get the whine
