Default Got Rid Of My 4.0L Torque Monster

Well guys & gals, after much consideration we decided that it was necessary to part ways with my 2006 Pony Package coupe.

It was a tough decision, but we need a bigger family car because our family is most likely going to get bigger. Debbie & I are adopting an older child that is younger than our 12yo son Jack. We have not yet been matched up with anyone, but we have been certified by the State as Foster Parents with intent to adopt. We're looking for a boy, but we would consider a boy/boy or boy/girl sibling group if they're younger than 12yo.

For those of you who have been around for a while, my coupe was not my first S197. We bought a 2005 4.0L/auto vert on 05/05/2005, which has been Debbie's DD since I bought my coupe

The tune & intake I was running on my coupe was originally installed on the ragtop (tweaking the tune for the different tranny). So before getting rid of the coupe, I swapped nearly all of the go-fast goodies from the coupe onto the ragtop - tune, C&L, rear-end, LCA's, PP sway bar, panhard bar, and 275/50R17 Nitto NT450's. At one point, I had both cars up on jack stands while swapping out the rear-ends:

For the record, I still plan to race, but I'll be going a tad bit slower with the heavier ragtop. Oh yeah, I replaced the coupe with a 2005 Explorer XLT 4x4, also in Mineral Gray. I already started modding it by removing the roof racks. This isn't the best shot, but you'll get the idea:

And the new truckster is also a 4.0L V6. Why change a good thing?

I guess since you still have 2 mustangs left, that is your saving grace. :P

Very admirable of you to adopt. Many talk about it, few do it. Good luck there.

Explorer is screaming for an XCharger.

Thanks Mike. Actually, I think the Explorer is screaming for a 2" drop and painting the wheels the 2005-2006 Bullitt wheel color, per the following chop by 2k1gt:

Glad there is still a 4.0 S197 in the family.
I'd be torn to pull off some like that though.
It's kinda stupid but we become too attached to these cars...

It makes for a tough decision......but given the direction your family is headed......it is the right decision!

I want to congratulate you and Debbie for making an even bigger, more important decision to expand your family through the miracle of adoption. I think this is such an act of love and respect to a child that would otherwise have very little opportunity. It take a very special person and obviously you two are awesome. Best of luck!! s ~

Well I suppose you can be forgiven considering your whole situation
Besides, by my calculation you only have 5 years to go before you'll be adding a new stang to the family for your oldest and congrats on the family mod!
