if they give you a ticket, it's illegal.

idk if it's legal in NJ
i live in hawaii and all those tints are illegal but i still have them. my sig is w/ covers that i take off when i drive, but under the covers they are tinted 35% for my headlights, 20% for the tail lights and fogs, and 5% for all the corners, and a custom lettered 3rd brake light.

Im pretty sure its not "illegal" if they are useful for 500+ feet. Im not sure about every state but I think that is the rule here.

its useally illegal but it depends on the tinting like some cops if they see a little bit of tinting they will get u and some only get u if they see alot. most of the time they get it on u if u get pulled over for something else like speeding.

When i lived in NJ the cops pulled us over for doing 70 in a 65 zone..they were bored because there was Zero crime in my town, Allentown

But if they get you for speeding they may ticket you for them

Its illegal because it is considered as an obstruction, but most of the time you will get a fix it ticket meaning you have a set number of days i think 30 to fix it or you will get a ticket

wrong, acording to the DOT it is illegal in all 50 states to impede light on tail lights, also, if you get rear ended with tinted tails, you will be designated at fault for the accident
