I would still get a turbo cause you will be faster with it vs. a vortech with more boost. Actually if you want power I would sell the 6 and get a GT and put a cai and tune and have more hp. That's not what I did but that is what I should have done after spending so much on the 4.0 to have GTs beat me with a CAI and tune.

You may not care about who beats you and you may just want more power and that's cool....im not hating or anything but there is only so far you can go without spending a ton of money and your resale with go down after the supercharger too.

Good Luck!!

for the money you pay for a GT you can make a v6 faster. it was almost 6.5K more for a GT when they first came out. for that money you can get a powerhouse turbo kit, run a safe amount of boost and make ALOT more power then a bolt on GT. this argument has been beat to death. yes if you are looking for the most power a turbo does make more HP per pound of boost. also its pretty funny that the v6's can hold more boost. gt's will make more power but v6 is a stronger motor. forged rods baby!

Reading up on this, it seems both stock internals have the same 400-450rwhp limits. Or did I read something wrong?

from what ive read only the v6s have forged rods, which means they can take more boost. they still arent as strong as the aftermarket forged rods but the gt's dont have the same ones. i believe the gt ones are cast. i didnt mean to sound like im saying the v6 is a better motor all around but it can hold more boost. on the other hand the same amount of boost on the v8 will net you much larger gains.

Not the pistons, and that's been a weak link.

I am just saying if you want a truely fast car then you will end up spending more money to make a 4.0 fast as a GT. Slap a supercharger or a turbo on a GT and how much will you have to spend to make the 4.0 that fast? Too much money time and effort. IMO

yeah if you can get the 4.0 and the GT for the same price. when you get the gt your already 6.5k in the hole. add that the the other 7k for the whipple or powerhouse/sts( eww) turbo kit and its gonna be pretty close.

true, the pistons are not forged. i believe they are hyperuthetic(spelling?) still decently strong but no differnt then whats in the GT. also the GT has an aluminum block vs the cast iron block of a v6. and if im not mistaken the cast iron can hold up to more heat.
