Default Safety and Security package?

As I am pricing my first Stang I am trying to decide if the safety and security package is a good bet. I live in the northeast (Cleveland area) and am concerned about the winter months.

Is this option a must for me? Anyone get it and love it or not get it and regret it? Any input would be great!

I have it, I haven't had any experiences with it either good nor bad, but when i purchased my car in Michigan, the car was actually on a lot in Ohio, and when the dealership transporter was loading it onto the flat bed to bring it to me he said it went off for 15 minutes as he was driving on the high way before he figured out how to turn it off. the car knows when it's being moved involuntarily and doesn't appreciate it. pretty funny i guess

I believe that the safety and security package includes ABS and Traction Control System (TCS). I live in Michigan and it came on my 2006 Pony package although now it is an upgrade. A lot of people criticize the TCS but I haven't had any problems with it - it kicks in sometimes in the snow and has probably helped out when I've had to drive through some pretty big snow storms and slick conditions. The ABS is very good to have if you drive in slick conditions in my opinion.

The only time I turn the TCS off is at the track.

I live in central Ohio and my '07 doesn't have the safety features (ABS,TCS). Mine is also my DD (daily driver) so last winter was my first with the car and I was impressed how well it did.

My opinion would be to get it if you can because you can always turn it off if you don't want it on. My experience is the stock Pirellis do better in the snow than in rain. In rain I hydroplane very easily. When it's time to replace tires I'll be looking for another brand. But TCS would help that for sure. As for ABS, can you put a price on shorter stopping distance or control during a hard stop? Some day may prevent you from being in an accident...you never know.

...good luck with your decision and if/when you get it post pics!!! You won't regret a stang purchase!

I dont have it and am glad I dont.
ABS brakes and TCS are for people
that cant drive.
And the perimiter alarm is a noise
making joke from the many "my alarm
went off for no reason" posts.
As for the wheel locking kit, theives
laugh at those locking nuts.

ABS and TCS for people that don't know how to drive? couldn't the same argument be said for your shift light? it's 2008 and some people like technological comforts.

I did not get it, and I do no regret it. I installed gears/t-lok so that is enough traction control for me. I also upgraded my tires and suspension, so I haven't had a need for ABS.

Just my opinion, I think the ABS would be the only thing truly beneficial, but the TCS may be helpful on occasion.
