Default Limited Slip

Hey folks,

What is a good Limited Slip for my 2005 V6? This "one wheel peel" just isn't cutting it. Also, what is a good gear ratio to go with? I was thinking 3.73s.

Best bet, as most will tell you, is to just get an 8.8" rear end. Cheapest if you don't have a mechanic hookup. Supposedly the rear end swap is easy and can be done by most people with mechanical knowledge. check out newtakeoff.com

I agree that 3.73's are a good ratio.

If you have someone that can do rear end work for cheap or free, or just want to keep the 7.5" for some reason, I suggest a Detroit TrueTrac for the 7.5 rear end. Part # 912A316. Have yet to hear of anyone breaking one of these bad boys, they are pretty bulletproof. I just got a salvage unit from Sadler Powertrain for cheap, they might still have one.

Don't waste your time on the 7.5" T-Lok from Ford Racing. It will go out sooner than later and you'll end up having to pay to have it repaired probably more than once over the life of your car.

the 7.5 t-lok will last if you drive like a grandma. but considering the op is talking about peeling out, it wouldn't last all that long. the clutch pack repair kit for the 7.5 t-lok are more expensive than ones for the 8.8 too, and much harder to come by.

Here is the 7.5" T-Loc at Mustangs Unlimited

Or www.newtakeoff.com for a complete 8.8 rear end with a T-Loc
and whatever gears you want (3.55, 3.73, 4.11) all factory set-up
with the V6 driveshaft pinion flage already installed ready for installation.

Nevermind, I think I will be ok.

I just read somewhere that Afixer, who has a modded x-charger, has over 20k miles on his t-lok and lots of track passes with no problems so far so I should be fine then.

When I had my 4.0L/5spd coupe, I made MANY passes with the 7.5" 4.10:1 and t-lok on drag radials. Sold that car recently, but swapped that rear into my wife's 4.0L/auto ragtop (I took off ALOT of the hop up parts before selling it, and installed them on the ragtop). I hope to get quite a few more miles outa that rear, even with tracking her car occassionally.

Unless you plan to be burning up the track, going forced induction, or doing donuts, then a 7.5" t-lok will be fine (especially if you're an auto, which are "kinder" to the rear-end that sticks).

I would never get a Tlock I have seen more pics of them busted up, like you said, especially in a stick. I have been having this problem for what seems like forever. I want posi and I cant decide which differential to get or to just get the 8.8 but the shipping would be murder. I have been in this delima forever.
